WORKSHOP
Developing Soundscapes for Storytelling

In theatre productions, a soundscape is when sound and music is used to create a setting, a sense of space, suggest a scene or build the atmosphere of a story being told. These sounds can be background noises, sound effects, or musical instruments. Slingsby uses music and sound to bring a scene to life, as well as to hold the audience in emotional moments.

Working with Slingsby’s Composer in Residence, Quincy Grant, small groups of students (1-3) will be introduced to use QLab to plan, design, program and trigger sound worlds to support and enhance storytelling.

It is a requirement for this workshop that students have either of the following:

Macintosh with Qlab or

Windows: with Linux Show Player or Show Cue System
